Do you remember the legendary Haikyu!! Oikawa Hanger that may bring back your memories?

 

Oikawa Hanger was a promotional item of Tōru Oikawa and a special gift for customers who pre-ordered the Aoba Johsai High School’s jersey sold in Jump Shop and other shops in 2013.

 

As it was explained in Weekly Shōnen Jump that “You can dress Oikawa when you do not put on your clothes!”, you can hang your clothes on it as if he is wearing your clothes.

Next weird item is a T-shirt of Helios Rising Heroes, which has a bold design of a Meruga (e-mail screen) that gained much popularity in the Heisei era in Japan.

 

You may be surprised and do a double take at this T-shirt. Surprisingly, it is an item made for their 2nd anniversary event held in August 2022. That is to say, it is sold in the Reiwa era, not in the Heisei era (it is strange even if it is sold in the Heisei era).

 

It became a popular topic of conversation like “The person who designed this item is an ancient Otaku. lol” and “This is a new genre where Meruga is on T-shirts.” when it was announced that this T-shirt would be sold.

 

What is Meruga?

It is an abbreviation of “Mail Gazō”.

“Mail” means “e-mail”, and “Gazō” means “image” in English.

“Mail” is pronounced as “Mēru” in Japanese, and they extract some first letters, “Meru” and “Ga”, from each word to create this abbreviation.

Meruga is an image of sentences which look like an e-mail with a background image of your favorite character or other things.

People enjoy creating e-mail sentences as if they are written by the favorite character, and it was greatly popular while we were using flip phones.

Now, the chance to see it has decreased as smart phones and Line (messenger application) have become common.

 

This is an item made for their anniversary event. Therefore, you will be conspicuous in a bad way if you wore it outside of the event place.

These crazy looking round fans were distributed as special benefits for visitors of the movie King of Prism: Pride the Hero in 2017.

 

When you hold it up in front of your face, you will be able to pretend to be Kouji Mihama, Hiro Hayami or Kazuki Nishina who are the members of Over The Rainbow. I can’t understand what it means!

 

At the time, the movie theater used to teem with fans who were holding these round fans, which was a very strange sight (I saw them actually).

The official company of The Prince of Tennis made and sold this acrylic stand of Genichiro Sanada wearing a loincloth which can be pulled off. An acrylic stand that you can pull the loincloth off…??? (I’m confused.)

 

The loincloth was made of actual cloth. This item was made with an idea that you could pull it off even though that was an acrylic stand.

 

Although this item was sold in Jump Shop, it aroused criticism because its promotional image on the official Twitter included inappropriate expression, deleting the original tweet.

 

As Sanada wore this costume in the original manga, the idea of the item was new and had a good reputation. But, we cannot purchase it even today.

 

If you pull the loincloth off, it is hidden with a balloon saying “You fool!! (Tawake ga!!)”.

 

 

Golden Kamuy Too sexy Matagi pen

This is a pen in which a sexy Matagi (traditional winter hunters in Tōhoku region in Japan), Genjiro Tanigaki, is printed. It was planned to be sent as a gift to celebrate 200 serial publications of the original manga.

 

Tanigaki is still with his clothes on when you tip the pen, but his clothes disappear when you stand the pen, and sexy Tanigaki Nispa (a wealthy person, a rich man, a gentleman, a lord, a master; an honorific title for a man, Mr. in Ainu language) appears, which is a crazy mechanism. Aren’t they genius?

Extra information: Mask at Golden Kamuy Exibition

 

Golden Kamuy Exibition is being held with a good reputation, and they had events that “Tsurumi First Lieutenant Night” and “Escape King Yoshitake Shiraishi Night”.

 

During those events, the visitors could see the exhibition while they were wearing the distributed masks.

 

It was just scary that people wearing masks of Tsurumi, Koito and Shiraishi were crowding at the site. Who is who? That’s fearful!!
