With a fourth season of the TV anime in the works, we conducted a survey on the popular characters of Bungo Stray Dogs, a popular supernatural power battle action that is sure to attract more and more attention in the future.

 

The total number of votes cast was a whopping 35,000! Thank you very much for your cooperation.

No. 10: Junichiro Tanizaki

 

Junichiro Tanizaki is a member of the Armed Detective Agency, and he just loves his younger sister. He is responsible for stakeouts and listening to requests. He is voiced by Toshiyuki Toyonaga.

 

He is a user of “Light Snow (Sasameyuki)”, the ability that allows him to make snow fall in the area and project illusions using the space as a screen, as well as to overwrite backgrounds on scenery and himself.

 

Comments

• He is usually kind and has a scaredy-cat part, but when it comes to his work, he has a sharp temper and when for Naomi, he attacks his opponents without hesitation with a killing spirit that the mafia would approve of, and this is cool as there’s a gap!
• I was struck by the gap between the bomber role in the first scene and the adorable everyday appearance. It was also cool that he said he would go to the mafia instead of Yosano…

 

 

No. 9: Doppo Kunikida

 

Doppo Kunikida is a member of the Armed Detective Agency and acts as a sort of organizer of the employees. He is voiced by Yoshimasa Hosoya.

 

He is a user of “Lone Poet (Doppo Ginkaku)”, the ability that allows him to embody and materialize what has written by consuming the pages of his notebook.

 

Comments

• I can’t leave him well enough alone about the fact that he is somewhat unstable.
• I like that he was desperate to protect someone, whether it was “The Azure Messenger” or “Hitori Ayumu”. In the story where Dostoyevsky said that people fight, I couldn’t get over his nobility deciding not to fight and act president.

 

 

No. 8: Fyodor Dostoyevsky

 

Fyodor Dostoyevsky is the head of the Rats in the House of the Dead & a member of the Decay of the Angel, a character who is skilled in handling computers. He is voiced by Akira Ishida.

 

He is a user of the unusual power “Crime and Punishment”, which is considered quite dangerous, although the details are unknown.

• Dostoyevsky’s mysteriousness is the best! (Hope someone can understand it.)
• I like his voice and his mysterious atmosphere is very good! There is a profile of each character in the comic, but only he doesn’t have it! Please give us his profile!!!!

 

 

No. 7: Kyoka Izumi

 

Kyoka Izumi is a member of the Armed Detective Agency. She was once an orphan who was picked up by the Port Mafia and turned to murder in the past. She is voiced by Sumire Morohoshi.

 

She summons Demon Snow (Yasha Shirayuki), a white-armored warrior woman with a sword cane, and is a user of the “Demon Snow” ability, a unique ability with extremely high combat power.

 

Comments

• I love Kyoka!! Especially I can’t miss her first appearance scene with Atsushi and the conversation with Akutagawa in the battle scene as Kyoka’s fave!! I fell in love with her in “I don’t want to kill any more, not even one more person!” (I fell into the bottomless swamp.)
• She is so kind and it is so cute that she loves hot tofu! She looks great in a kimono!

 

 

No. 6: Atsushi Nakajima

 

Atsushi Nakajima is the main character of this work and a member of the Armed Detective Agency. He is a weak-minded but kind-hearted boy who tries to protect others even at the cost of himself. He is voiced by Yuto Uemura.

 

He is the wielder of the “Beast Beneath the Moonlight (Gekkaju),” an unusual power that transforms him into a large white tiger with claws that have the effect of splitting the power itself.

 

Comments

• No matter how painful his past was, no matter how hopeless his situation was, Atsushi never gave up on life, and the way he struggled to overcome difficulties saved my life when I was about to give up on living. He is a hero that I will love and admire always and forever. I will continue to support him forever and ever.
• He is timid and scaredy-cat, but when the time comes, he plays a big role! He is a very nice person who saves Kyoka and cooperates with Akutagawa.

 

 

No. 5: Sakunosuke Oda

 

Sakunosuke Oda is a member of the Port Mafia and also a friend of Ango Sakaguchi and Osamu Dazai, but deceased. He is voiced by Junichi Suwabe.

 

He is a user of “Flawless”, an unusual ability to observe the future that will happen to him for more than 5 seconds and less than 6 seconds.

 

Comments

• I love Odasaku because he is very caring, has a very beautiful fighting style, has a good sense of humor, and can say embarrassing lines without hesitation. (I am really in love with him)
• Odasaku is the lowest-ranking member of the Mafia who doesn’t kill people in spite of his great skills. He is not trying to look cool at all, but he looks cool fighting, and I love his kindness to feed orphans and his naturalness to seriously answer Dazai’s words and actions that are full of cliches. Dark Era Arc of the anime makes me cry no matter how many times I watch it… I wish Dazai, Ango, and the three of them had been drinking together in harmony for a long time:’ (

 

 

No. 4: Ryunosuke Akutagawa

 

Ryunosuke Akutagawa is a member of the Port Mafia and has the authority to command the martial arts organization “Black Lizard”, which belongs to the commando unit under the direct control of the chief. He is voiced by Kensho Ono.

 

He is a user of the “Rashomon”, a unique ability that transforms his mantle into a black beast with an indefinite shape that eats anything and can be manipulated.

 

Comments

• The part where he can’t hide his unresolved feelings for Dazai and the part where he is about to die from being cold-shouldered is just too cute and makes me squirm.
• I love Akutagawa’s old-fashioned, sophomoric way of saying things out of the world. He’s usually a mad dog, but when it comes to Dazai, he goes all out like a Chihuahua, and I just love him so much.
• I think he is actually a very cultured person with his unique way of speaking, including his self-proclaimed “Yatsugare (the humble first person)”. He is a good boss to Higuchi and Kyoka for some reason, though he is strongly influenced by Dazai in the Dark Era. Above all, he makes me want to cry because he is so unhappy…maybe he doesn’t wish to be happy, but I hope he will be rewarded more.

 

 

No. 3: Ranpo Edogawa

 

Ranpo Edogawa is a member of the Armed Detective Agency, a character who is also known as “the strongest man in the detective agency” for his excellent deductive powers. He is voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya.

 

Although not actually a different ability, he possesses an excellent deductive ability called “Super Deduction”, which allows him to get to the bottom of a case simply by wearing a pair of glasses given to him by Yukichi Fukuzawa.

 

Comments

• At the scene in the second half of the third season when Chuya Nakahara enters a mystery novel, the line “Do you like mystery novels? ~ If we don’t die, let’s meet again” made me enthusiasm and his face are too cool.
• He’s free and uninhibited, he listens to his beloved President Fukuzawa, he’s usually playful but when the switch is turned on, he begins to deduce calmly… He is so cute and cool that I am in love with him:’ (:’ (
• I became curious about Ranpo when I found out that it was Mr. Kamiya who did his voice. The gap between cute and cool is always nice in the manga, but Ranpo’s coolness in the anime is… “Nyaa” is just foul lol

 

 

No. 2: Osamu Dazai

 

Osamu Dazai is a member of the Armed Detective Agency, and is a suicide maniac character who attempts to commit suicide by any means at every opportunity. He is voiced by Mamoru Miyano.

 

He is a user of “No Longer Human,” a unique ability that nullifies all other abilities that come into direct contact with him.

 

Comments

• I was swamped by his form when he said his name to Atsushi!!
• He is usually aloof, but he suddenly becomes dignified and his sudden expression is too cute. Is he an angel? He’s beautiful above all else. No wonder he’s officially handsome.
• I love Dazai more than anything else as he alternates between cool and cute, and his expression changes all the time. His hair looks fluffy, and CV Mamoru Miyano’s sweet voice is perfect for Dazai’s unique way of speaking. I also love the cold, sharp gaze that hides behind his eccentric moves, and the calm, measured words he says! His impassioned expression in the Dark Era and his rare screams made me wish that one day Mr. Dazai would be saved…

 

 

No. 1: Chuya Nakahara

 

Chuya Nakahara is a Port Mafia executive & former partner of Osamu Dazai during his mafia days, a character who worked as “Double Black”. He is voiced by Kisho Taniyama.

 

He is the wielder of the “For the Tainted Sorrow” ability, which allows him to manipulate the gravity vector and strengthen the objects he touches.

 

Comments

• I was attracted by his interaction with Dazai, with whom he and Dazai have a relationship of mutual friendship and trust, even though they are usually at odds with each other, and by his personality, which is stoic and strict in both self and others, but also caring and compassionate with a gentle side that is adored by his subordinates. I was also attracted by the gap between his personality and his weakness for alcohol lol.
• I really like it as it includes many settings of Chuya… The story from 15 to 22 is so epic, and he’s cool and I’m really in love with him thinking that he overcame and now he is here… he makes me think about human beings…
• He looks like he has a bad temperament, but he is serious and a good cook. He cares about being short and I was attracted by the gap!
• I voted for Chuya because I was moved by his self-sacrifice in the movie, his faith in his partner, and his big-brotherly personality. I respect Chuya as a person. I am proud of his cool and strong character!

 

 

Bungo Stray Dogs Top 10 Popular Characters Ranking, No. 1 is Chuya Nakahara!

The first place in the ranking of the most popular Bungo Stray Dogs characters goes to Chuya Nakahara, a port mafia executive!

 

Osamu Dazai came in second place, making Double Black the top two. It also shows the popularity of the two as a duo.

 

Besides, among the top 10, six members of the Armed Detective Agency, more than half, were ranked in the top 10.
